touchdown run two weeks ago in an overtime win over the Jaguars
Eli McGuire is the big man on campus again, the hot waiver wire pickup in the fantasy football world and a guy Jets fans are hoping will be a part of the youth movement at the center of their team’s surprising 3 2 start.

The rookie sixth round running back has created a buzz in the run up to a showdown with The Evil Empire, a no name from Louisiana Lafayette thrust into the spotlight due to injuries, a much needed boost.

“That backup is always the most popular guy https://www.patriotsnefans.com/austin-carr-jersey-c-71.html,” running backs coach Stump Mitchell said. “Because usually when he gets in the game, he makes something happen. But we expect something to happen… Hell, I know. When I played, I was that backup guy. Everybody in St. Louis was like, ‘Oh Stump’s up.’ Well, yeah. This play is designed specifically for me. We know what’s going to happen. Or we know what SHOULD happen nine times out of 10.”

New offensive play caller John Morton gradually ramped up McGuire’s workload through the first five week due to feel and, most recently, necessity. McGuire’s offensive playtime percentages 0 , 20 , 19 , 27 , 68 .

Matt Forte’s turf toe suffered a few weeks ago opened the door for McGuire. Bilal Powell’s calf strain that kept him out of the second half last week is expected to sideline him against the Patriots on Sunday. Forte’s status against Bill Belichick Co. is iffy. Translation Expect a heavy dose of McGuire, whose 10 carry, 93 yard performance against the Jaguars a couple weeks ago gave everyone a glimpse of what might be possible.

“I just want to be consistent at what I do,” McGuire said. “That’s just the main job on this level to keep your job Be consistent… and show the coaches that I know what I’m doing.”

Morton and Mitchell have already taken notice of McGuire’s preparation and demeanor. “It’s like he’s a veteran already,” Morton said recently.

Mitchell admittedly didn’t know much about his pupil before the Jets drafted him. He’s worked on technical elements of McGuire’s game that have yielded tangible benefits. One of the most important themes Don’t bounce everything to the outside on zone plays.

“In college, he always tried to get to the sideline,” Mitchell said. “If he could, he was getting to the perimeter. That’s not the case anymore. Now he’s reading blocks better …. With Eli, there’s not a whole lot that he can’t do. And there’s nothing that he’s not willing to do.”

McGuire might be self confident, but he has no ego. He’s an equal opportunity sponge, willing to absorb lessons from Morton, Mitchell, Forte https://www.patriotsnefans.com/james-ferentz-jersey-c-70.html, Powell or just about anyone else. His pass protection is still a work in progress.

He’s taken Mitchell’s tips about pressing the line and waiting for the back side to be sealed before putting his foot in the ground and running upfield to heart. The coach has often used Chris Johnson, one of the best inside and outside zone runners he’s been around, as an example.

“In college, I relied on speed to get me to the edge a lot of times,” McGuire said. “But on this level, man, everybody’s fast. So, you have to make that adjustment.… I just can’t get to the outside all the time. I have to be pressing the hole more, getting everybody to flow in one direction and then going in a different direction.”

“What makes you special is making guys miss D.J. Killings Jersey,” said the 5 10, 210 pound McGuire, who was bottled up in the second half in Cleveland last week. “That’s what I try to do, because running guys over… that stuff hurts. I’m not big on trying to run people over. So, I just try to give them a little move and just make something happen.”

McGuire’s decisive cut sprung him for a 69 yard touchdown run two weeks ago in an overtime win over the Jaguars. His head and eyes were in the exact right places. It was a thing of beauty.

“He pressed the center, keeping his focus going to the left,” Mitchell said. “He let everything go that way and then he made the cut, went back and kept it straight. It’s the fundamentals. What he would have done earlier https://www.patriotsnefans.com/malcolm-butler-jersey-c-69.html, he probably would have tried to cut back too soon and gotten three yards. The defender would have been standing right there waiting on him. But now his vision is where it’s supposed to be.”

Morton has done a solid job rotating his running backs, but McGuire, who has 43 carries for 176 yards 5.2 yards per carry and five receptions this season, will be in line for more work on Sunday. The Patriots have the 29th ranked rush defense 124.2 ypg . Only the Steelers and Jaguars have allowed more yards per carry than New England’s 5.0.

For the most part, Morton has put McGuire in favorable positions, which isn’t a given in this league.

“Right now, you take a look at the Rams,” Mitchell said. “I see Todd Gurley. Everybody said he was a bum and all of that crap last year. But look at the system that he’s in. I saw him run a daggone seam route recently . So, players sometimes, I think, get critiqued in a negative fashion, but the scheme may not display the skills that they have based on the offense that they’re in. They can only do what we ask them to do.”

The Jets haven’t asked McGuire to do anything they don’t believe he can handle. He’s learning every day.

“I have to build my way up again,” McGuire said. “You got to listen to the older guys. You got to let those guys get their shine. You got to let those guys do their thing. You got to let those guys eat. And you got to be patient. Your time will come sooner or later.”

    The time has arrived.

carried five times on their opening drive against the Bears
Everyone, it appears, thought that Aaron Jones was capable of this. They just weren’t sure when the Green Bay Packers rookie running back would get a chance to show what they claim to have already known.

Davante Adams knew. He wanted to make it clear after Jones ran for 125 yards during the Packers’ 35 31 victory over the Dallas Cowboys last Sunday at AT T Stadium that he’d liked Jones throughout the offseason organized team activity practices and training camp, going so far as to playfully suggest the Packers scouting staff might want to consult him in the future.

“Man, that’s my dark horse. I’ve been saying that ever since OTAs,” Adams said. “People don’t want to listen, but I’m like Ted Thompson, Bill Belichick when it comes to scouting the talent out here. That’s my dog. He’s a reliable guy, and he’s just a good kid. A lot of talent https://www.packersgbstore.com/david-talley-jersey-c-81.html, obviously. I’m real excited for what’s going to happen with him for the rest of the season.”

Bryan Bulaga knew. Like the rest of his offensive line mates, the veteran right tackle liked what he saw from Jones in practice.

“We saw in training camp what type of back he could be,” Bulaga said. “He got his opportunity and took advantage of it.”

Mike McCarthy knew. Although the 12th year coach admitted he regretted not getting his three rookie running backs – Jamaal Williams a fourth round pick from BYU , Jones a fifth rounder from UTEP and Devante Mays a seventh rounder from Utah State – more work during the preseason https://www.packersgbstore.com/aaron-taylor-jersey-c-82.html, McCarthy insisted that he had a pretty good handle on each of their strengths as the regular season began.

That’s why McCarthy said that what the 5 foot 9, 208 pound Jones did against the Cowboys was merely a confirmation of his abilities – even though Jones was the odd man out on opening day, as he was inactive for the Packers’ Sept. 10 season opening victory over Seattle.

“It’s going to take them all, so I want to be able to make hard decisions on who’s going to be on the 46 man active game day roster,” McCarthy said as his team turned its attention to this Sunday’s game at Minnesota. “That’s what this league is all about. Unfortunately, we haven’t had that yet this year because of injuries . But that’s what good football teams do. That’s why everybody has to get ready.”

Alvin Jones knew. A senior at Texas El Paso, Alvin is Aaron’s twin brother and FaceTimes with him every day. When the two brothers talked after Sunday’s game, it was the first thing Alvin said to him.

“He just told me he knew I could do it. He’s been watching me do it my whole life,” Aaron Jones recounted. “I watch https://www.packersgbstore.com/lane-taylor-jersey-c-83.html all of his games and he watches all of mine. Right after the game, he was the first person I was off to the side with, talking to.”

And Aaron Rodgers knew. He said so after Jones was pressed into duty Sept. 28 against Chicago – when starter Ty Montgomery and top backup Jamaal Williams left the game with injuries – saying he’d been “a big fan of his since the beginning.” After Jones’ performance against the Cowboys – both running the ball and providing pass protection while the cobbled together offensive line continued its shuffling – Rodgers reiterated his confidence in Jones.

“He’s great. I told him before the game, ‘I have absolutely zero worries about him back there,’” Rodgers said after watching Jones break free for a 15 yard run – and then smartly get out of bounds – during the drive that led to Rodgers’ game winning touchdown pass to Adams.

“He is a great kid. He’s a rookie, but his vision was fantastic. He gives you a lot of confidence that we can give him the ball on the last drive. Not only does he get through the line and make a nice run, but the kid runs out of bounds. That’s stuff you can’t coach. You love the instincts there. He’s a talented guy. I’m really proud of him.”

But here’s the thing Had Montgomery not suffered broken ribs against the Bears, and had Williams, who replaced him, not bruised his knee later in the game, how long would it have taken the Packers to get him involved?

In their first three games, Montgomery played nearly 90 percent of the Packers’ offensive snaps to that point. He also carried five times on their opening drive against the Bears before leaving the game because of the rib injury. Jones, meanwhile, had yet to play a single offensive snap before Montgomery and Williams went down.

Now, after his late run on the game winning drive, his a nifty 9 yard catch that set up his 7 yard touchdown run on the next play, and a crucial fourth down conversion earlier in the game, Jones clearly merits playing time – even when Montgomery is cleared by the medical staff.

“It takes time,” McCarthy said. “It’s a young man’s league Kyler Fackrell Jersey, I get it. Aaron had an opportunity, and man, he cashed in. I’m proud of him. He’s earned the right to have more opportunities and move forward. And that’s not lost in how we plan and we go forward . But this is not a one man show.”

McCarthy suggested he’d like a “one four” punch instead of a traditional “one two” punch with Jones and a healthy Montgomery, but it’s unrealistic to think the Packers can get all four backs involved in a meaningful way each week. But Jones clearly needs to be a big part of that.

“I just think he’s unique,” said offensive coordinator Edgar Bennett, a former running back himself. “And he’s a kid that, you love the person. When he came into our culture, our environment, you could tell he was going to fit in as far as just the mindset, just the attitude. Very coachable, and he wants to improve. And that’s a big part of how players come into this system and go from good to great. You have to want to improve each and every day.”

For his part, that’s precisely what Jones is focused on.

“I’ve always wanted to be a go to guy. I think I took a step in the right direction,” he said Monday. “It was good knowing I can do things better and I still had a good game. There’s always room for improvement.”

Ryan has played extremely well in these games in his career
On Sunday the Falcons will be hosting the Dolphins at Mercedes Benz Stadium in their return from an early bye week.

Here’s a review of who and who not to play in fantasy football.

QB Start Matt Ryan, Drop Jay Cutler
Ryan’s production is DeVondre Campbell Jersey predictably not as strong as 2016 and the Dolphins have a stingy defense that is only allowing 14.6 fantasy points per game to opposing QBs this year. Then again, the Falcons are at home and coming fresh off a bye week. Ryan has played extremely well in these games in his career and his owners should expect a solid performance.

Cutler may eventually settle in with Adam Gase’s offense and start producing the way he did in 2015 with the Bears. Until that happens, he doesn’t belong anywhere near your bench, let alone starting lineup.

RB Start Devonta Freeman, sit Jay Ajayi
Miami’s defense does a great job of stopping the run and they rank in the top 10 in fantasy scoring against RBs. Then again , Freeman is getting so many opportunities it may not even matter. He’s scored touchdowns in all four of his games so far this year and has been seeing the lion’s share of snaps when Atlanta reaches the red zone. Go with your gut https://www.falconsatljersey.com/cam-keizur-jersey-c-58.html, but we’re starting him.

On the other side, the Dolphins run game has been stalled this year thanks to some offensive line struggles. Through four games Jay Ajayi has yet to score and is only averaging 3.4 yards per carry. Atlanta’s defense can be run on, but the Dolphins will likely be playing from behind too much for Ajayi to make an impact.
DeVante Parker is Miami’s top receiver in their quick pass offense, but he only has one touchdown and 236 yards so far. The Dolphins passing game just isn’t built for fantasy right now.

With Mohamed Sanu out due to a hamstring injury, nobody else looks like a quality start this week at wide receiver.

TE Start Austin Hooper, sit Julius Thomas
It’s been a pretty quiet year for tight end Austin Hooper since his Week 1 explosion against the Bears for 128 yards and touchdown. Last week he did show signs of life though https://www.falconsatljersey.com/ben-garland-jersey-c-59.html, catching five of seven targets for 50 yards. Miami has had some trouble against tight ends this year, so Hooper is worth a look.

Thomas looks like the definition of a bust for the Dolphins. He’s only caught nine of 16 targets and is averaging less than 22 yards per game with zero touchdowns. No good.

    D/ST Start Falcons, sit Dolphins
This week Atlanta’s defense is one of the more intriguing streaming options. Cutler has been struggling a lot of late and Miami’s offense ranks last in every meaningful statistical category. Forcing more turnovers has been a major emphasis from Dan Quinn and his staff over the last two weeks. If that pays off https://www.falconsatljersey.com/travis-averill-jersey-c-57.html, the Falcons defense could be in a for a huge game.

Miami’s defense is normally a quality play, but not on the road against one of the best offenses in the league. Good luck!

college developed the idea for the program while working
One in seven people in the United States will witness domestic violence in their homes, according to the Childhood Domestic Violence Association. Dallas Cowboys tight end and former UT player Jason Witten is partnering with the University of Tennessee College of Nursing to help witnesses.

“His father was abusive to his mother before she took Jason and his two older brothers out of their home in Washington, D.C. and moved to Tennessee,” says SCORE Foundation Executive Director Ryan Altzier. “Because Zack Martin Jersey of his experience, the fight against domestic violence has always been something close to his heart.”

According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence NCADV , one in 15 children will be exposed to intimate partner violence each year and 90 percent of those children are eyewitnesses.

The Winning SCORE program will provide support to UT students who have been exposed to childhood domestic violence. The program’s goal is to help the students graduate college and have a successful future.

“The UT College of Nursing’s vision is, ‘Leading Care. Creating Partnerships. Improving Health.’ We are committed to providing an educational experience that graduates the best prepared registered nurses, advanced practice registered nurses, and nurse scientists ,” said UT College of Nursing Dean Victoria Niederhauser. “To achieve our vision, we create programs that allow us to engage students and faculty in leading care that is helping to improve the health of our local community in Knoxville https://www.cowboysdaclub.com/lael-collins-jersey-c-63.html, as well as the health of the nation.”

Witten’s wife, Michelle, is a graduate of the College of Nursing.

“This partnership made perfect sense for that reason and because it focuses on helping people overcome the effects of being raised in violent homes,” says Altzier.

According to Niederhauser, the college developed the idea for the program while working with the university’s foundation.

“[The] nursing practice focuses on promoting and improving health by providing care to individuals, families and communities,” says Niederhauser. “Research shows us that many things contribute to a person’s health, for example, their living conditions, access to health care, their exposure to damaging experiences earlier in life , their behaviors https://www.cowboysdaclub.com/jordan-carrell-jersey-c-61.html, and their genes.”

The SCORE Foundation was contacted by the university and the Verizon Foundation stepped in to help fund the program.

During pre game ceremonies of UT’s game against Georgia, the Verizon Foundation presented the program a 40,000 grant.

The university hopes the program will bring more awareness to childhood domestic violence and be an educational program for resident assistants, residence hall directors, athletic advisors and coaches.

“It is a very unique program in that it really takes a look at the long term effects that DV causes and is proactive in https://www.cowboysdaclub.com/travis-frederick-jersey-c-64.html helping these students overcome those challenges to have healthy relationships and break that cycle of violence,” says Altzier.
